Examination forms

CBS has five generic examination forms and there are many different variants of these forms:

Active participation
Home assignment – written product
Written sit-in exam
Oral exam without written discussion paper
Oral exam based on written product

The document Fit for Purpose outlines the pedagogical considerations relevant to the selection of exam formats at CBS. It is intended for course coordinators and study board members who design, approve, and quality-assure assessment.

Variety across programmes

Examinations and tests in a programme must include a variety of forms reflecting the content of the teaching and the forms of work (see also the Ministerial Order on Examinations and Tests in University Programmes). In this way, students will be exposed to different examination formats as they complete the courses of a given programme.

The grading format pass/fail may cover no more than 1/3 of the programme’s subject elements calculated in ECTS points. Further, exams or tests with an external examinor must constitute at least 1/3 of the education calculated in ECTS points.
