Professional video

Why video?

In general, we process visual information much faster than information in writing. And when you experience an emotional connection with the information you have been given you are much more likely to internalize the information and store it in your long-term memory. Therefore, video is such an important tool for educational use.

  • Video is within its right when it’s able to SHOW you instead of TELLING you.
  • Video is a medium that is multimodal and therefore a great way to create engagement with the audience.
  • Video is great for telling stories. With video, we are able to travel through time and space and also create emotional connections.
  • We are able to reflect our emotions through video like no other media. People on camera can stimulate different kinds of emotions and add authenticity to information.
  • Video is easy to share with others.

Video formats

Interview

Short to medium-length format (recommended 2-7 minutes) with one or two participants, produced in a study facility or on location, high degree of control.

Portrait

Medium length (recommended 5-7 minutes) format, typically produced on location, often centered around one character/main character, based on an overall theme.

Storytelling

Short to medium-length format (recommended 2-5 minutes), lyrical and emotional presentation that contributes to subsequent reflection, but just as much in a narrative with clear progress and dramaturgical storytelling techniques.

Studio 1 (Background)

Medium length format (recommended 5-7 minutes), with an adapted script based on a clear dramaturgy (teaser, elaboration, and denouement). Works well in conjunction with animation. Possibility of high control.

Studio 2 (Screen)

Medium to long-length format (recommended 7-15 minutes), lends itself to active and engaging communication as the host to a large extent “carries” the format and contributes to engagement, the possibility of direct contact with the viewer, and low control.

Studio 3 (Lightboard)

Medium to long-length format (recommended 7-15 minutes), lends itself to active and engaging communication as the host to a large extent “carries” the format and contributes to engagement, the possibility of direct contact with the viewer, and low control.
