On August 28th, CBS officially launched its ambitious 2025/26 AI Pilot Projects with a dynamic kick-off meeting that brought together project leads from across the institution. The afternoon event on campus marked the beginning of what promises to be a transformative journey in AI-enhanced education.

The kick-off was opened by Anna Thomasson, Dean of Education at CBS, who emphasized both the strategic importance and pioneering nature of these pilot projects. “You are pioneers and you are here to volunteer to respond to one of the biggest challenges that universities are facing,” she told the assembled project teams.
She stressed that “these pilot projects are not just experiments in technology. They are about pedagogical innovation—exploring how AI can help us personalize learning, strengthen feedback, and open new possibilities for collaboration and reflection.”
The AI pilots represent “a first big step into teaching with, about and for AI and are positioned as an important element in the overall implementation of the AI Strategy within the education area at CBS. The projects will inform multiple aspects of CBS’s AI integration, from understanding classroom challenges and opportunities to developing systematic competency development for faculty.
The 14 approved pilot projects span an impressive range of applications – from personalized tutor bots and AI assistants for collaborative group work to VR simulations and case-based tools for critical reflection
The Dean of Education was refreshingly candid about the journey ahead: “This is what this is all about – trying, gaining experience. You learn from failure as well as success. So it’s okay if it doesn’t turn out as expected.”
She acknowledged that “when you try to implement new things, you always run into obstacles – legal obstacles, organizational obstacles, or maybe other things. I am here to try to help you navigate as much as possible.”
During the project pitch session, teams shared their innovative ideas and began identifying synergies across initiatives. The diversity of approaches was striking, with the energy in the room reflecting genuine excitement for the experimental work ahead.
The meeting provided crucial alignment on practical matters that will support project success. Teams received guidance on timelines and deliverables, with projects set to be implemented between fall 2025 and fall 2026.
A key highlight was the presentation on potential contributions to the major “Innovating Teaching and Learning” event scheduled for December 11th, 2025, where pilot teams will have the opportunity to showcase their findings to the broader CBS community.
The session also addressed important practical considerations, including copyright regulations presented by Jesper Smedegaard Madsen, DPO of CBS, and the support structures available through the department of Educational Development and Quality (EDQ).
With a DKK 2.5 million investment and a timeline running through January 2027, CBS is making a significant commitment to understanding AI’s potential in education. As Anna concluded: “The work you are doing matters—not just for your own courses, but for the future direction of CBS’ education.”
The meeting ended with networking and celebratory drinks, cementing the collaborative spirit that will drive these pioneering projects forward. The entire CBS community will be watching with interest as these initiatives help shape how business education evolves in the age of AI.
