Teaching Writing in the Age of Generative AI

Course Content
“Homework will never be same,” it was said when ChatGPT went live at the end of 2022. But, for many academics, rethinking the role of writing in the classroom has not been easy. This course will prepare you for a future in which students are as familiar with text generation as they are with instant messaging, where you can never be sure whether their homework represents their academic learning or their technical savvy. It will provide you with arguments you can use to persuade your students to do their own writing, and help you design assignments that will reward their efforts by building both their disciplinary competence and their intellectual confidence. It will show you how you can help your students become more productive, more effective, and less anxious in a world where writing has, perhaps, become a bit too easy.
