Insights on Active Participation Exam format with Liping Jiang (Video Recording)

The Lunch & Learn series at EDQ started as a space to explore ed-tech tools, but we’re experimenting with bringing in teacher insights this semester. Our first session featured Associate Professor Liping Jiang from the Department of Operations Management, sharing how she transformed her exam format in the Shipping Business Analytics course at CBS.

Instead of a traditional final exam, Liping structured assignments throughout the course, fostering engagement, feedback, and deeper learning

In the session, she walked us through:

  • How structured assignments replaced the final exam.
  • What worked well, what challenges emerged, and how students responded.
  • Key insights on engagement and feedback in this format.

If you are interested in the new “Active Participation Format” or are planning to implement it, we invite you to our upcoming workshop on “Teaching with Active Participation Format” this Thursday, 6th of February from 09.00am to 12.00pm.
