Examination forms

CBS has five generic examination forms:

Active participation
Home assignment – written product
Written sit-in exam
Oral exam without written discussion paper
Oral exam based on written product

There are many different variants of the five examination forms. The document Examination forms at CBS (requires a CBS user account) describes in detail which examination formats exist and what needs to be clarified once the examination format has been determined.

Variety across programmes

Examinations and tests in a programme must include a variety of forms reflecting the content of the teaching and the forms of work (see also the Ministerial Order on Examinations and Tests in University Programmes). In this way, students will be exposed to different examination formats as they complete the courses of a given programme.

The grading format pass/fail may cover no more than 1/3 of the programme’s subject elements calculated in ECTS points. Further, exams or tests with an external examinor must constitute at least 1/3 of the education calculated in ECTS points.
