Teaching & Learning and Education & Quality has been merged

April 1st marked a change for Teaching & Learning, as we welcomed colleagues from the Education & Quality unit, creating a new department with a continued focus on delivering pedagogical support and combining that with a focus on quality assurance and educational transformation. The new department will be called Educational Development and Quality, and the name change will take effect in websites, email addresses, this newsletter, etc., over the summer 2024.

The Dean of Education, Anna Thomasson, previously stated in a Share news piece: “With the merger of parts of E&Q with T&L, CBS aims for increased support for educational transformations through synergies between the work with strategic projects and quality assurance of the programmes in E&Q and the pedagogical, didactical tasks with teacher and teaching development in T&L. The ambition of the reorganization is to create even stronger support for management and employees in the major development and transformational work in our programmes in the coming 5–10 years.”

The integration of these units is expected to foster closer collaboration and innovation in teaching practices, ensuring that CBS’s educational programmes remain high quality and outstanding. By aligning the quality assurance efforts of Education & Quality with the pedagogical expertise and teaching development initiatives of Teaching & Learning, the merger aims to create a robust support system that will help drive the transformations in the educational landscape the coming years at CBS.

The combined efforts of Teaching & Learning and Education & Quality will provide a more holistic approach to educational quality, supporting CBS’s commitment to excellence in business education. Head of the new merged unit, Educational Development & Quality, Jakob Ravn, is very satisfied with the merger and sees great potential in combining the competencies of each department: “The merger will enhance our ability to provide support for educational development where pedagogical and didactical knowledge is combined with insights into quality policies, institutional procedures, and legal requirements. And vice versa. We do still want to offer support for both the individual faculty member with a pedagogical issue and for the institutional compliance with requirements and quality standards. The new thing is that by combining the two, we can hopefully align it better and provide more value in the upcoming change processes in CBS’ programmes”.
