Learning objectives:

  • Engage in formal and informal mindfulness and compassion practices. 
  • Gain knowledge about mindfulness and compassion interventions for organizations. 
  • Articulate relevant concepts and theories on mindfulness and compassion. 

Formally assessed activities:  

  • Practical sessions focused on different meditation techniques.
  • Group work activity to design a mindfulness or compassion intervention for presentation to experts in the field. 
  • An individual 3-page paper that aims to articulate relevant concepts and theories from the field of mindfulness and/or compassion and reflect on their value for the student’s personal and professional life. 

Grading:

You pass if you engage in a minimum of 80% of the practical sessions of the course (6 online sessions) AND pass the other two elements of the course (a group activity and an individual paper).

Feedback: 

  • In-class guided discussions (students encouraged to reflect on their experiences and gain feedback from peers and the teacher) 
  • Allocated group work time during the sessions. Feedback on presentations from the teacher and an external expert. 
  • Feedback paragraph on each essay submission.
