THE EDQ MEDIA TEAM

Interview with Simon Mølvig, Team Lead of the Media Team in Educational Development and Quality (EDQ)

When CBS need a video to enrich teaching or a podcast to share research insights in a more engaging way, it’s often the Media Team that makes it happen. Being part of the department Educational Development and Quality, the team brings together video producers, storytellers, media technicians, and podcast journalists – people who know how to transform ideas into sound and image while keeping the pedagogical purpose front and center.

Who is the Media Team?

“At its heart, the Media Team is an in-house production hub that bridges the technical, the didactic, and the organizational to strengthen how CBS teaches and communicates.” says Simon Mølvig, Team Lead of the Media Team. “Our mission is to support teaching across CBS through media productions that are flexible, high-quality, and rooted in a clear educational goal. We handle the full process, from concept development and planning to recording, editing, and guidance on how to use media effectively in teaching.”

The team operates from two main production spaces: the video studio at Kilen, where everything from educational explainers to short video presentations is filmed, and the podcast studio at Solbjerg Plads, where conversations and in-depth interviews contributes to the overall learning experience. “But we’re not tied to the studio,” Simon adds. “A part of what we produce also happens on location, across campus or around Frederiksberg.”

What do you actually produce?

“Our core work revolves around video and podcast production,” Simon explains. “We create learning materials that extend and enhance classroom teaching, from short conceptual videos and case stories to podcast episodes where teachers and researchers explore their subjects in depth.”

Collaboration with CBS faculty is central to their approach. “We see ourselves as creative sparring partners,” he says. “We help teachers find the right format for their message, whether that’s a visual narrative, dialogue in audio form, or part of a hybrid learning experience. Every project starts with a question: “What is the best way for us to leverage our services to enhance teaching at CBS?

Collaborating across CBS

Beyond teaching, the Media Team also supports a wide range of internal partners.
“We work closely with colleagues in Executive Support and Communication, Executive Education, and Study Administration,” Simon notes. “Part of our work is also helping communicate CBS’s strategic initiatives and showcase the university’s work to different audiences.”

This cross-campus collaboration makes the team a key creative resource for both academic and administrative units. “It’s what makes our work so dynamic,” Simon says with a smile. “We’re constantly moving between projects that educate, inspire, and strengthen CBS’s voice as an institution.”

A creative partner in developing future teaching

For Simon, the value of media lies in its ability to make learning more engaging and accessible. “It’s not just about producing a video or a podcast, it’s about creating

something that adds real value,” he says. “We want to make teaching more alive, more flexible, and more connected to students’ ways of learning. In many ways, our work is, and has always been, part of a larger evolution where media becomes a natural, integrated part of education.”
