Supervising students with psychological disabilities and neurodiversity (Online)

Do you supervise students working on theses or other larger written assignments?
In this webinar, Studenterrådgivningen (Student Counselling Services) will share psychological insights and takeaways from their extensive experience supporting neurodivergent students and those with mental health conditions.
You’ll gain an overview of common psychological and neurodevelopmental conditions, and learn how these can affect students’ learning processes and their engagement with larger academic projects.
For instance, students facing psychological challenges may struggle to structure their work, maintain focus, manage their energy levels, or regulate difficult emotions under pressure.

The webinar will support you in navigating the balance between being an compassionate and supportive supervisor, while maintaining high academic standards and expectations.

Additionally, the session will outline the support services available to students, explain the kinds of accommodations they may be eligible for, and clarify where and how lecturers can refer students for further help when needed.

Target group

About the facilitatorStudenterrådgivningen (Student Counselling Service) offers free social and psychological aid to students who are attending further and higher educations.    We concurrently work to prevent discontentment and unhappiness among the students, which we for instance do by supporting the educational institutions’ work with study environment and the wellbeing of students.   Student Counselling Service offers Special Pedagogical Support (SPS) to students with psychological functional impairments as well as competency development for those who support students with psychological functional impairments. The purpose of SPS is to ensure that people with physical or psychological functional impairments may complete an education on equal footing as other students. A psychological functional impairment can include anxiety disorders (e.g. OCD, PTSD), affective disorders (e.g. depression and bipolar), schizophrenia and other psychoses, personality disorders, eating disorders and developmental disorders (e.g. ADHD and autism).   https://srg.dk/english/the-student-counselling-service/organization/
