This webinar is based on James Lang’s book Small Teaching. Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning. In this book, James Lang introduces strategies for improving student learning with a series of small approaches that can be implemented by faculty in any discipline.
After a brief introduction to the Small Teaching approach, we will present and discuss some of the key pedagogical recommendations in the book. Three key topics will be the acquisition of solid foundational knowledge in the subject areas; the development of strategies for deep knowledge; and the emotional and social components of learning. Participants will be
encouraged to reflect on the specific application of these concepts in their courses and teaching practice.
The webinar will take place online and will not be recorded.
This webinar does not count towards APP days.
