CBS research project on teaching during the COVID-19 lockdown:
The digital transformation process in teaching during the COVID-19 lock down in Denmark

The digital transformation process in teaching during the COVID-19 lock down in Denmark

Due to the Danish government’s lockdown of large parts of Denmark on 11 March 2020, virtually all teaching at CBS was switched to taking place online. Of course, this dramatic change has had a large impact on all aspects of teaching, research and administration at CBS. Moreover, the transition happened in such a short span of time, and thus the view was taken that any efforts were “good enough for now”. Despite the difficult circumstances, a wide variety of learning activities and courses were developed that have helped students complete their studies.

The finding from the project will be used by CBS management and Teaching & Learning to provide teachers with guidelines and examples of digital teaching activities that have proven to work well for student learning. Particularly for the fall semester, 2020, where 50% of the teaching is expected to be carried out online, but also in the longer term, when the COVID-19 restrictions are over.

Lastly, parts of the data will be utilized in a research project investigating how students’ learning outcomes were affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. This will be done by studying student evaluations, course grades and surveys of students’ and teachers’ experiences. The findings will be related to a range of different background characteristics.

Participants in this project are:

  • Mette Franck, RiBL, Econ, ph.d.-fellow – main focus: Student experience
  • Sine Zambach, Digi, BIA, Postdoc – main focus: Course data and teacher experience
  • Annemette Kjærgaard: Project coordinator
  • Michael Møller Nielsen, T&L: Survey design and data analysis. Documentation of results
